Egyptian-born, Australian film director/writer/producer Alex Proyas with a passion for film from an early age, his early shorts were acclaimed, including numerous outstanding short film awards and nominations at London, Melbourne, Cannes et al international film festivals.
He has forged an influential career with feature films equal in measure as cult and commercial successes, from his first feature, SPIRITS (1989), THE CROW (1994), DARK CITY (1998), GARAGE DAYS (2002), followed by I, ROBOT (2004) starring Will Smith, & KNOWING (2009) starring Nicolas Cage, and his most recent feature GODS OF EGYPT (2016).
His recent short films have also been lauded, including STRANGE NOSTALGIA, best experimental film in numerous film festivals, and MASQUE OF THE EVIL APPARITION another success on the festival circuit with numerous best film and best director awards.
Alex lives in Sydney with his wife and daughter, is planning his next projects, has launched www.vidiverse.com a streaming platform for indie shorts, and is building a state of the art virtual production studio www.hereticfoundation.com made to revolutionise the way films are made.
Jim has worked for over 10 years in the industry including BTL roles on major Blockbuster films HACKSAW RIDGE, THE GREAT GATSBY & MAD MAX. In 2015 he sold Bronte Pictures, a company he co-founded which produced films like STREAMLINE starring Jason Isaacs and Levi Miller, and in 2017 he set up Lunar Pictures.
As a producer Jim has earned a total of 6 wins and 44 nominations at various international ff. Recently Jim was Executive Producer of $25M film, “DANGER CLOSE”, starring Travis Fimmel & NEVER TO LATE staring Oscar Nominated cast James Cromwell and Jacki Weaver. He produced MOON ROCK FOR MONDAY to which sold to over two dozen countries worldwide.
In 2020 he produced a short film with Alex Proyas which has accumulated an astonishing 6 wins & 30 nominations around the world, and is currently working with Hopscotch Films/Brouhaha & Oscar winning producer Gaby Tana on SWITZERLAND launching at EFM with Filmnation, acclaimed director Anton Corbijn & Academy Award winning star Helen Mirren.
Jim is Producing Mystery Clock Cinema’s and Alex Proyas “HEAVEN” and also “SISTER DARKNESS” with Morris Ruskin and Adam Krentzman in 2023, amongst a slate of other films.
